Your town hall’s online office (sede electrónica)
How do I get my padrón certificate (certificado de empadronamiento) online?
Updated
Download your certificado de empadronamiento from your town hall’s online office. Steps vary by municipality; here is what usually happens.
Your padrón certificate comes from the town hall (ayuntamiento) where you are registered, so the website and steps depend on your municipality. Many town halls let you download it from their online office (sede electrónica) after you sign in with Cl@ve or a digital certificate. Some also offer it by post or in person.
What you need
- Your DNI, NIE or passport
- Cl@ve or a digital certificate, if your town hall asks you to sign in
- The name of your municipality, to find the right website
Steps
Find your town hall’s online office
Search for your town hall’s sede electrónica, the official website of your ayuntamiento for online procedures. Make sure it is the official site.
Find the padrón section
Look for the section about the padrón (padrón municipal de habitantes) and the option to get a certificate or a volante.
Choose the document
Pick the type you need, for example an individual or a household (colectivo) certificate. If you are unsure which one is accepted, ask the organisation that requested it.
Identify yourself
Sign in if the town hall asks for it, usually with Cl@ve or a digital certificate. You sign in yourself.
Download or receive the certificate
Download the PDF if the site offers it straight away, or follow the instructions to receive it by post or email. Save a copy.
